![]() I hate the circlejerk around this because it feels really unwarranted. Get ad block and UG's site isn't intrusive at all and offers the best selection of tabs and chord sheets. They also have a subscription that offers fewer upgrades than Ultimate Guitar. ![]() Even if it's not, get ad block and your Ultimate Guitar experience will have less pop ups than any mainstream news site.Įdit: tl dr Songsterr, the only competitor I've seen that I even bothered to check out, has horrible tab accuracy, one option for songs, no rating system, and no chord sheets. If accuracy is your main priority, I cannot recommend Songsterr. Ultimate Guitar is not ideal, but ad block fixes *literally* everything about the presentation. As a matter of fact, they don't even have tab available in standard internet notation as far as I can tell (the kind that lets you copy them in an email to yourself for offline). On the other hand, Songsterr doesn't even have chord sheets at all. Guitar pro is honestly one of my favorite online subscriptions due to the official tabs having an auto scroll for chords at the exactly right tempo. In terms of tab accuracy there was only one "official" tab that I've seen on ultimate guitar that warranted me contacting them (Octopus' Garden by The Beatles had the rhythm guitar playing chords instead of arpeggios) and it was updated in a week. That seems to have been fixed, but it sure took awhile. ![]() Also, for the longest time Songsterr had a distorted guitar playing the piano part on While My Guitar Gently Weeps, which was just kinda comical. I was attempting Long, Long, Long and the fills were so far from the actual song that I emailed them (no way to leave feedback on specific tabs, ugh!!! Really easy to fix stuff!) Ultimate guitar unfortunately uses the numbered drum notation, so you need a key if you don't know it, but it's at least correct. Most tom fills are an utter mess and as someone who isn't a drummer and is using virtual instruments they're basically useless. I've found the drums to be the worst generally, they don't even try to get those correct. There's only one option for most songs too. There's no rating system and it certainly isn't explained clearly who is making and checking the tabs. I'm gonna copy and paste a Songsterr rant that I had a couple months ago in response to another karma whoring "let's shit on ultimate guitar" thread:Īs someone who does Beatles covers (AKA what you'd expect to be very well vetted tabs) I've found Songsterr to have a really bad track record.
